Hey there!
How has the start of your February been? Do you have a Valentine's this year?
Are you ready to get back to University or work?
I’m rather excited because I am starting with the Obstetrics/ Gynaecology block in my 5th year and I’m stoked to help deliver some babies… I wonder what it will feel like to observe and assist in the birthing process. I imagine it’ll be a transformative process where I get to grasp the concept of mortality by contrasting it with life.
3 Things I Learnt This Week
Hats, Haircuts, and Tattoos
Any decision you make can be either of the three. ‘Hats’ are low-risk: like deciding what to order at McDonalds or what outfit to wear today- you can change hats as often as you like. Put ‘em on, take ‘em off. They’re decisions you can spring back from easily.
‘Haircuts’ are medium-risk. If you got a pretty shitty haircut at Supercuts you could grow that back out in a few weeks. Yeah, you’ll feel awful walking around with a shitty haircut but you’ll learn, cut your losses, and get a better barber (guess who just got a questionable haircut LOL!).
‘Tattoos’ are those high-risk decisions you make that have significant implications for you and your life like choosing a partner or deciding on a specialty in your medical career.
Are there any ‘Tattoos’ occupying your mind right now?
Odyssey Plan
This is pretty simple: Close your eyes. Imagine yourself 5 years from now in your most ideal life. All your dreams came true. Let’s say you are that extremely successful Lawyer you wanted to be. Everything is perfect…
Now, are you living like the person you envisioned yourself as? How can you guarantee your life projects in the direction of this dream and stays on the collision course to this goal?
If your daily habits and actions don’t align with that future version of yourself, you may need to go back to the drawing board and make the necessary adjustments. Make that life a reality by changing your daily habits and setting up healthy and productive systems.
The Power of Writing Thoughts Down
I recently bought a pocket notebook to note down all the thoughts and ideas that strike me throughout the day.
It helps. I find myself writing sporadic thoughts to add to my to-do list, content ideas, poems, or other miscellaneous ideas. As a bonus, it reduces the time I have to get on my phone to note things down so I don’t get as distracted as I once did.
A Podcast I Found Precious This Week
if you survive on caffeine like me, this is an intriguing listen…
A Song That Soothed Me
This takes me back a year living in the dorms and going through the lowest point in my life. This song gave me some hope. Don’t confine yourself to just the romanticism- notice the hopeful undertones embedded within.
Parting Question
Could you dance in a room full of people without caring what they thought of you? If No, is it the fear of judgement?
Until Next Week,
Sary
P.S. I’m watching ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ and I am hooked. Have you watched it? Which show are you watching right now?
Very well elucidated. Worth reading.
